ITIL, an Australian IT Standard?

Under pressure to adopt best-practice schemes before outsourcing, government departments and agencies have been including requirements for ITIL certification in IT tenders.

Demands for contractors to be certified for the Information Technology Infrastructure Library have collided with a lack of standards and certification, which has caused confusion in tender processes.

Help could be at hand, however, with the inclusion of the ITIL services framework in an Australian standard for IT services.

The framework was incorporated into British Standard 15000, which in turn has become the template for the draft Australian Standard 8018.
